General Motors
Personal Mobility Device
In the fall of 2016, I completed a Capstone studio project as a requirement for my curriculum. Our team of four industrial design and mechanical engineer students created a personal transport/mobility device for elderly adults.
Our sponsor was General Motors and our goal was to create a safe and secure mobility device that also provides a renewed sense of freedom and boldness. Current transport options lack a seated posture and the user's feet have a disconnect from the ground. As a group, we decided to use a family brand of GM, Cadillac, that dares to be bold.

Over the course of 16 weeks, we conducted primary user interviews, created mockups, completed user testing and evaluations matrices, built 1-to-1 models, and built a functional prototype.
